“Might be wise to use Mikhail to periodically check our distant surroundings. Don’t want Three’s soldiers to catch us.” Shaking her head, Zero looked at the other two and said, “Well, whatever, we might as well get moving. I get the feeling that navigating to Three’s stronghold will be much more difficult without the aerial view.” The large man shrugged, “Well, then I suppose that we’ll have to find one then. “What routes?” The albino asked, waving at the fact that there were no trails or paths leading into or out of the clearing they were in. “Yeah, like trolls,” Zero joined the Canadian in his sullen mood.ĭecadus simply shook his head, “No, from what I remember the trolls shouldn’t be too dangerous so long as we stick to the established routes.” Yaaaaay,” Jet groused as he checked over his gear to make sure he hadn’t lost anything. “Dozens upon dozens of new and interesting ways to die. Prancing about behind them, Mikhail chirped, “It’s not too bad Zero! The fresh air is nice, and I’m sure that we can find all sorts of interesting things in the forest, so it’s not too bad!” Now we have to slog through this wooded shithole to get to Three,” Zero spat, uncaring for the state of the dead Intoner. “Yeah, yeah, Four’s corpse is somewhere in the forest, but those assholes destroyed my ship. “An entire day I spent building that fucking coffin…” The Canuck quietly despaired as it surely fell to the ground and unceremoniously split open somewhere in the woods, given that Zero refused to stop and give Four a proper burial.ĭecadus patted Jet on the shoulder, “Even so, I’m grateful for the effort, and I’m sure that Lady Four would have been as well.” “They fucking destroyed my ship,” Zero declared, scowling up at the scene.įor his part, Jet was grateful to have survived that and to be back on solid ground, surrounding by enormous trees in an otherwise fairly normal looking European forest and not unsafely riding stop a dragon’s back, but… Cargo and ballast stones rained down on the forest as the wreckage started to ascend into the stratosphere. The cannonfire trailed off as they descended, and stopped just before they landed, giving them time to breathe and watch their ship split apart. Before the Intoner could even tell the dragon to go, he was already flapping his wings and in the air, taking them down into a clearing below. “We’re hit! By the sounds of it, they hit the hull, which isn’t too dangerous, but if they hit the balloons or the propellers…”Ī series of disjointed cracks ripped through the air, and Decadus spoke gravely, “Or they hit the keel badly enough to cause the whole ship to come apart… Abandon ship!”Īs he called for that, Zero jumped up onto Mikhail in front of Jet, and the large blonde joined them almost instantly. “Be ready to go then! I’m not sure who they have manning their cannons, but they seem to have the devil’s aim!” Decadus called from his place, just before a thunderous crack echoed and the ship buckled. Having little else to do beyond shit himself, Jet complied. Running over to the man, Zero grabbed him by the back of his armour and lightly tossed him towards the dragon, “I said, get ready in case the ship goes down! Don’t stand around like a startled deer!” While Mikhail was looking wildly about, Zero looked to Jet and shouted, “Get ready to hop on the dummy if we get hit, this thing probably can’t take much damage!”įor his part, Jet continued to be in horror and suffering mainly aimless terror right then. “Brace yourselves!” Decadus bellowed, spinning the wheel hastily and pulling at a few levers, causing the airship to jerk up and gain a fair amount of altitude. Mikhail was rather content, as he’d not had to act as transport outside of hunting wyverns, something he’d very much enjoyed. Not even going with Mikhail to hunt down some wyverns that had strayed to close had broken her funk.Īt the helm of the ship was Decadus, resolutely guiding the ship to what he said was the location of Three’s stronghold. Zero, for her part, was glaring down at the forests, tired and irritated from being on an airship for three days. It was impossible to truly see the ground through the canopy, save for brief instances provided by clearings or glades. The airship cruised lazily through the expanse of the sky, having already cleared the mountainous terrains of the Land of Mountains for the sprawling greenery and foliage of the Land of Forests.
